Sleep— one of, if not THE, most underrated wellness hack of all time.

But often one of those foundational things that we kind of just overlook when life gets busy. (which ironically is when we need to focus on sleep the most).

For me, I have loved intentionally romanticizing the foundational wellness habits in my day-to-day routine. Not only does it help me to stay consistent with those habits, but it also makes them feel less routine and more intentional. Why Sleep is Important

Sleep is often the first thing we sacrifice—and ironically, it’s the one habit that makes everything else work better.

Fun fact: I had never heard of blue tansy before I started using Primally Pure nearly five years ago! I tried their blue tansy deodorant, and since then, it has been one of my favorite fragrances. How I Use Blue Tansy Body Butter

In the evening, I start with my holistic skincare routine and dental hygiene. Then I cozy up in my pj’s and climb into bed.

I keep the sleep spray and Blue Tansy body butter in my bedside table so it’s close and convenient. I use the sleep spray and then grab the body butter. The cream is light and airy, while also feeling deeply moisturizing. I scoop out about a tablespoon for my legs and arms and then rub it in. I love that this body butter quickly absorbs without feeling greasy or oily.

My Personal Experiment: Reducing Stress at Bedtime with My Kid’s

For the last 2 years, I have owned a Garmin watch. My favorite features are the stress and relaxation indicators. I don’t always wear my watch to sleep to measure sleep quality, but I particularly love the stress feature. It has really helped me to be more aware of moments of acute stress and how to mitigate that stress holistically.

One of those stressful moments that my watch alerts me to? Bedtime for my kiddos. Every night, I get a little alert on my watch of a “stressful period” after wrestling my monkeys into bed and going through the bedtime hoopla 🙃

So I got an idea… what if I incorporate my own personal bedtime routine into my kids’ bedtime routine too?! What if I could mirror that restful, peaceful feeling I aim for myself, at bedtime for my kids?

So I tried it. I used the “sleepy spray” on my kiddo’s feet and gave them a little foot rub that made them giggle. I then followed it up with a little of the blue tansy body butter, and again, their giggles filled the room. I found myself smiling and giggling with them, too.

The gentle fragrance cued me to be mindful of my presence. I took a couple of deep breaths. I felt centered and grounded and present while praying with my sweet children. We read one of our favorite family stories, and before I knew it, my little guy had heavy eyes and was asking for a goodnight hug.

That night, my watch never once notified me of a “stressful period”. Because it never felt stressful. Instead, I got to support all of our bodies through the romanticization of bedtime.

Our New Bedtime Routine

Now, I’ve started my bedtime ritual a little bit earlier. I get to share a few quick moments of self-care with my children, and instead of feeling stressed out and overwhelmed with my kids’ bedtime routine, I feel more grounded and present. Plus, it’s supporting their sleep quality too— it’s a double whammy!!

Then, when it’s my own bedtime, I use the same products for myself. I have found that prolonging that exposure to grounding essential oils makes me even more restful when it’s time for sleep. Truly, what every busy mom dreams of!
