Healthy Trader Joe’s Snacks for Fall: 12 Cozy Finds to Add to Your Cart
Looking for a tasty and healthy snack from Trader Joe’s this fall?
Here are some of my faves! 🍁
There is something about Trader Joe’s in the fall that makes grocery shopping significantly more fun. The pumpkin products come out, everything suddenly tastes like cinnamon and maple, and I inevitably leave with at least one thing that wasn’t on my list (or 2…or 3).
But while I love a fun seasonal treat, I also like finding healthy Trader Joe’s snacks for fall that actually keep me full and support my nutrition goals.
And when I say “healthy,” I’m not necessarily looking for the lowest-calorie or most perfect ingredient list. I’m generally looking for foods that offer some combination of protein, fiber, healthy fats, whole-food ingredients, and (equally important) something I genuinely enjoy eating.
So, if you're heading to Trader Joe's this fall, here are some of the best healthy and healthy-ish snacks to add to your cart.
A quick note: Trader Joe’s seasonal products and availability change frequently, so you may not find every item at every location.
1. Pumpkin Overnight Oats
These might be one of my favorite fall options if you need something you can grab straight from the fridge.
Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Overnight Oats are made with a surprisingly simple ingredient list: water, pumpkin puree, dates, rolled oats, almond butter, cinnamon, sea salt, and nutmeg.
One container has 200 calories, 6 grams of fiber, and no added sugar.
The one downside? They only have 5 grams of protein, so I wouldn't necessarily eat them alone if I wanted a substantial breakfast. Pair them with Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, or a couple of eggs for a more substantial snack.
Bonus points: My kids love these.
2. Honeycrisp Apples + Nut Butter
Sometimes the best seasonal snack isn't actually a seasonal product.
Grab a few crisp Honeycrisp apples (the most superior apple IMO) and pair them with your favorite Trader Joe's almond or peanut butter. You get fiber and carbohydrates from the apple, alongside fat and protein from the nut butter, making this significantly more satisfying than eating fruit on its own. Plus, more supportive for your blood sugar— win, win.
Add a sprinkle of cinnamon and flaky sea salt to make it feel a little more fall-inspired, or if you’re just feeling fancy.
3. Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds are one of my favorite little nutrition powerhouses. They naturally provide plant-based protein, healthy fats, magnesium, zinc, and iron.
Trader Joe’s seasonal pumpkin-spiced version is an easy way to bring some fall flavor into your snack rotation. That said, they are literally tossed in sugar and pumpkin spice seasoning. Not saying that’s the worst thing.. but just something to be mindful of, if you’re watching your added sugar intake.
Eat them on their own, add them to Greek yogurt, or make your own fall trail mix with pumpkin seeds, walnuts, dried fruit, and a little dark chocolate.
4. Greek Yogurt + Fall Toppings
Trader Joe's is one of my favorite places to grab ingredients for an easy yogurt bowl.
Start with plain Greek yogurt and add your favorite combination of:
Honeycrisp apples
Cinnamon
Chopped pecans or walnuts
Pumpkin seeds
Honeycrisp Apple Granola
A small drizzle of maple syrup
It's basically an apple crisp-inspired snack with significantly more protein.
5. Cheese + Apple Snack Plate
If you're craving something savory, make a mini fall snack plate.
Pair sliced apple or pear with a good Trader Joe's cheese, a few whole-grain crackers, and a handful of nuts.
This is also one of my favorite tricks for making an afternoon snack feel a little more satisfying. Instead of mindlessly grabbing crackers or something sweet, you're getting a mixture of protein, fat, fiber, and carbohydrates.
6. Maple Brown Butter Almonds
If you want something that falls somewhere between a nutritious snack and a fall treat, Trader Joe's Maple Brown Butter Almonds are a fun seasonal option.
Almonds naturally provide protein, fiber, vitamin E, and healthy fats, while the maple brown butter coating makes these feel much more like a treat.
Because flavored nuts can be incredibly easy to keep eating straight from the bag, I recommend portioning some into a small bowl and putting the bag away. Healthy eating doesn't have to mean avoiding sugar altogether. Instead, it can simply mean being a little more intentional about how you're enjoying it.
7. Turkey Jerky + Apple
This is one of the easiest higher-protein snacks you can put together at Trader Joe's.
Grab your favorite turkey or beef jerky and pair it with an apple for a combination of protein, fiber, and carbohydrates.
It's also a great option to throw in your bag for work, road trips, sporting events, or busy fall afternoons.
8. Cottage Cheese + Apple Butter
If you haven't tried cottage cheese with something sweet, hear me out. Add a small spoonful of Trader Joe's apple or pumpkin butter to cottage cheese and sprinkle cinnamon over the top.
The cottage cheese provides a substantial amount of protein, while the fruit butter gives you that cozy fall flavor without needing much.
You could also add chopped walnuts or pecans for some crunch.
9. Pumpkin O's With a Protein Boost
Trader Joe's Pumpkin O's are definitely more of a fun seasonal cereal than a nutritional powerhouse. A serving contains 170 calories, 3 grams of protein, and 13 grams of added sugar. But I don't think that means you have to avoid them.
Instead, use them strategically.
Add a small handful to Greek yogurt for crunch, mix them with nuts and pumpkin seeds for a homemade fall trail mix, or enjoy a bowl alongside eggs or another protein source.
One of the biggest things I try to teach around nutrition is that we don't have to categorize foods as simply "healthy" or "unhealthy." What matters more is the context of your overall diet.
10. Apple + Cheddar
This might be the easiest snack on the entire list.
Slice up an apple and pair it with a few slices of sharp cheddar cheese. The sweet-and-salty combination is perfect for fall, and you're getting fiber-rich carbohydrates from the apple plus protein and fat from the cheese.
For kids, you can turn this into an easy after-school snack with crackers or pretzels on the side.
11. A Fall Trail Mix
Instead of buying a super-sweet trail mix, make your own using a few Trader Joe's staples.
I usually get a combo of the following and mix it all together:
Raw or roasted almonds
Walnuts or pecans
Pumpkin seeds
Dried cranberries or raisins
A little dark chocolate
Cinnamon
A handful of Pumpkin O's or Honeycrisp Apple Granola
The key here is ratio. Make nuts and seeds the bulk of the mixture, then use the sweeter ingredients almost like toppings.
You still get that fun fall snack without basically eating a bowl of candy disguised as trail mix. Plus, I have found that making your own trail mix tends to be a bit more affordable than the pre-mixed varieties.
What I Look for in a Healthy Trader Joe's Snack
You don't need to obsess over nutrition labels to choose a good snack. Most of the time, I simply ask whether the snack contains protein, fiber, or healthy fat, and ideally more than one.
For example, an apple is nutritious, but an apple with almond butter is usually much more satisfying. Crackers are fine, but crackers paired with cheese, turkey, or hummus will generally keep you full longer.
I also don't think every snack needs to check every nutritional box.
Sometimes you want the pumpkin treat. Eat the pumpkin treat.
A balanced approach to wellness leaves room for foods that are nourishing and foods that are simply enjoyable. These tips are useful far beyond TJ’s. Whether you are looking for snacks at Costco, Thrive Market, or your local grocer, they will help you build a nourishing snack.

What I Try to Avoid When Looking for Healthy Snacks
A few things I generally try to limit include large amounts of added sugar, artificial colors or flavors, hydrogenated oils, and snacks that are highly refined without offering much protein, fiber, or nutritional value.
Added sugar is a big one for me, especially because it can add up surprisingly quickly in foods marketed as wholesome. For example, I originally considered including Trader Joe’s Honeycrisp Apple Granola on this list (because it is soo good), but one serving contains 17 grams of added sugar. While there’s absolutely room for foods like this in a balanced diet, I personally wouldn't classify it as one of the healthiest Trader Joe’s snack options 🥴
Instead, I tend to look for snacks with simple ingredients and some combination of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. They don't need to be nutritionally perfect, but I want my everyday snacks to actually nourish me and help keep me satisfied.
My Ideal Fall Trader Joe's Snack Haul
If I wanted to keep things simple, my fall Trader Joe's cart would include Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, Honeycrisp apples, pumpkin seeds, almond butter, cheese, jerky, walnuts or pecans, and one or two of the fun seasonal items.
That gives you plenty of options to mix and match throughout the week without buying 15 different packaged snacks.
And honestly, that's usually my favorite way to shop: mostly simple staples, plus a few seasonal foods that make eating well feel fun.
Final Thoughts
Trader Joe's is especially tempting during pumpkin season, but you don't have to choose between enjoying the seasonal foods and sticking with your wellness goals.
Build most of your snacks around protein, fiber, fruits, nuts, seeds, and other filling foods, then sprinkle in the fun fall products you genuinely enjoy.
That's a much more realistic approach to healthy eating than trying to make every single thing in your grocery cart "perfect."
And if the Pumpkin O's happen to find their way into the cart too? It's fall. Enjoy them.
