Silvery Cooling Bed Sheet Review : The Pros, Cons + My Honest Opinion

Have you ever heard about sheets woven with silver?! Because of the silver, there are several health benefits that I thought were worth testing them out!

Here’s my review of Silvery Rest Cool bed sheets— pros, cons, and whether I think they are worth trying out…

My husband and I have always been fascinated by space. After graduating from college, he spent a summer interning for NASA and since then, we’ve always been so interested in this idea of science and exploration. What does any of that have to do with bed sheets, you might be wondering?

When Silvery reached out to me a few months back, I immediately started researching the company and its products. One thing that I found interesting is that their silver technology was originally inspired by NASA. This innovative design combines science and comfort to give you a really comfy, cozy bed sheet that not only levels up your sleep quality (which we are a big fan of around here), but also can help keep you clean and cool while you rest.

Silvery gifted me a couple of sets of their cooling sheets, and I’ve spent the last few months trying them out. This post shares all about what sets these bed sheets apart from others, what I loved, and, as always, my not-so-favorite parts too.

TLDR: These sheets are a good option if you are looking for something with cooling and antimicrobial effects, plus OEKO-TEX certified. Silvery has generously shared code KAELYN10 for WWK readers if you are interested in trying them out.

What are Silvery Rest Cool Bed Sheets?

Silvery sheets are infused with strands of silver, which, if you didn’t know, is naturally antimicrobial. This means that the usual buildup of sweat and body oil that can cause odors and acne is reduced through the use of silver! On their site, they claim that 99.9% of bacterial growth is prevented, keeping sheets fresh 3x longer.

For any other moms who feel like they can never get caught up on laundry, that sounds very appealing.

Are Silvery sheets non-toxic?

If you have been around the blog for a while, you know I have been on a personal journey of replacing synthetic fibers in my home. Obviously not 100%, because I am an 80/20 wellness advocate through and through, but it is still something we have been focusing on. That said, I prioritize based on how often I contact them.

Like bedding– where you spend roughly a THIRD of your life coming into contact with the fibers.

So, when trying out the Silvery bed sheets, I was curious about their actual composition. On their site, it says their “silky-soft,” but I did not clearly see whether it was made of synthetics or natural fibers on the product page. I looked around a bit and found the info I was after on their “FAQ” page.

Silvery bed sheets are made of 100% viscose from bamboo and OEKO-Tex certified. Viscose is a highly engineered fiber, and I would not say it is a “natural fiber”, despite its origin. That said, I do appreciate that there is testing in place to meet OEKO-Tex standards and ensure the fabrics are free from harmful chemicals and safer for sensitive skin.

Is there any third-party testing done?

Yes! Silvery has several different components to its testing. This ensures that their claims are backed by external sources, which I always appreciate and respect. These are the following testing requirements:

  • OEKO-Tex compliant

  • Certi-PUR US compliant for any foam products

  • Silver Technology- their silver technology has also been third-party verified to ensure that it prevents 99.9% microbial growth, even after an extended time of use.

My personal experience with Silvery Bed Sheets

When I first opened the package, I was honestly shocked. I have never felt a bedsheet with the feel and texture that silvery has. I would first describe it as a really slippery, athletic-style fabric.

We threw them in the wash, following the brand’s instructions, and had them on our bed that night. Oh– and I should mention, if you hate wrestling your fitted sheets onto your mattress corners, you will not have that problem with these. The fabric is SO stretchy! But they also have a band for underneath the mattress to help keep them on the corners!

Immediately, we could tell what they meant by the “cooling” effect. The sheets do not get hot like traditional bedding throughout the night. It was so relaxing at the end of the day, especially after wrapping up my bedtime routine and climbing out of a warm shower.

But after a couple of nights, I realized that there were a couple of things I did not love.

Mainly, the sheets are so silky and stretchy that I felt like I got tangled up in them throughout the night. Personally, I hate having blankets wrapped around my legs and the feeling of being “trapped” when I sleep. So rolling over and having the stretchy sheets roll with me was not a sensation I liked.

In the same vein, because of their stretchiness, I feel like it caused the sheets to have wrinkles. Personally, I prefer the snug feel of a more fitted sheet to lie on.

Silvery Bed Sheets: The Pros and Cons

Like with most products I try, there are certain things I really like, and parts that are not my favorite. My goal is always to stay honest and transparent with this blog and the things I try out so that you can make the best decision for yourself. Here are some of my own personal pros and cons of Silvery bedding, so that you can make an informed decision about whether they would be right for you!

Silvery Sheets Pros:

  • Cooling– oh I would have paid good money for sheets like this in my early postpartum days when I always felt so warm at night. But honestly, this isn’t something I regularly struggle with at night. That said, if you do sleep hot or experience hot flashes, these sheets could be a really good choice for you!

I look forward to using these sheets during the summer when nights are warmer!

  • Literally some of the softest and silkiest sheets I have ever felt. And that is coming from someone who has purchased silk sheets in the past for hair and skincare benefits. I actually prefer the feel of this fabric to actual silk, plus notice all the same skin and hair benefits.

Over the last couple of years, I have been growing out my natural hair. Part of that journey has been learning how to better care for my hair. After sleeping on these pillowcases, I noticed quite a bit less frizz and much smoother hair, which was a huge pro.

  • OEKO Tex certified— I appreciate mitigating the chemicals my family comes in contact with regularly. This is a certification that I appreciate seeing on the home goods we bring into our life.

  • Antimicrobial – according to third-party testing, Silvery reports that microbial growth on their sheets is reduced by 99.9% due to their silver technology. If you struggle with acne, sometimes the microbial growth on your bedding is a factor!

Silvery Sheets Cons:

  • Super stretchy– while some may love this, it wasn’t my personal favorite.

  • Limited color selection– you can choose from white or gray. Personally, I love more earthy tones and neutrals for my bedroom and hope they expand their color selection in the future!

  • While I do appreciate their testing for chemicals, I wish they used a natural fiber instead of viscose. That said, I do not think you would have a similar cooling effect. It just depends on what your personal priorities are and how you sleep best!

Would I Recommend Silvery Sheets?

Overall, I enjoyed getting to test out these sheets! While some parts are not my favorite, overall, they are a good, high-quality bedding option with some unique health benefits compared to other popular brands. I would particularly recommend these if you are a super hot sleeper or if you enjoy a slippery feel to your sheets.

Also, if you are someone who sweats a lot while you sleep or struggles with acne, Silvery’s antimicrobial feature may help to reduce the bacteria in your bedding.
