The Best Beef Organ Supplements for Holistic Health? RN Approved ✅

Over the years, I’ve tried dozens of supplement brands. Some are great, some are questionable, and some really stand above the rest in terms of quality, standards, and efficacy.

Today, I’m sharing all about one of those special kinds of brands and their high-quality beef organ supplements that have become an everyday product in my home.

Fun fact: one of the first blog posts I ever published on this site was about organ meats and how I was prioritizing beef liver in my diet. Now, nearly 4 years later, I'm still talking about supplementing beef organs... In that time, I've tried a lot of different brands. The popular ones, the small family-owned ones, the DIY methods, and nearly everything in between.

And I always get the same question from readers and health coaching clients: what beef organ supplements are actually the best? Which brand has the highest quality product, purity, and packaging?

For the last couple of months, my husband and I have been consistently taking one brand, and I am really excited to share all about it! Like seriously, even their packaging is nearly 100% plastic-free 👏 Plus, one of their products had the most obvious effect on my hormones of any supplement I’ve ever tried.

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Heart & Soil. As always, all opinions are entirely my own, and I only share products I’ve personally used and genuinely enjoyed. I was a customer of Heart & Soil for years prior to accepting a partnership. Why take organ supplements?

If you’ve spent any amount of time in the holistic wellness space over the last several years, you’ve probably noticed the growing conversation around organ meat supplements and ancestral nutrition. And honestly, there’s a good reason for it.

Traditional cultures often viewed animal organs as some of the most nutrient-dense foods available. But in modern society, most of us primarily consume muscle meat and lean meats while completely overlooking organs like liver, heart, kidney, spleen, and reproductive organs.

The interesting thing is that these organs contain incredibly unique nutrient profilesin a highly bioavailable form. (This simply means that the nutrients in the organs are very easy for our body to use)

Beef liver supplements, in particular, naturally contain vitamin A, vitamin B, B vitamins like pantothenic acid and B12, iron, copper, fatty acids, and other essential nutrients that play a vital role in:

  • Energy production (every other mom feels like energy is occasionally in short supply? 😅)

  • Red blood cell formation

  • Cognitive function and brain health

  • Immune health

  • Support iron levels-- ounce for ounce, beef organs (specifically liver) have more iron than any other type of meat

  • Heart health

  • Hormone health

  • Muscle recovery

Of course, fresh liver and fresh organs aren’t exactly everyone’s favorite thing to cook. Trust me — I’ve tried the DIY methods, freezing raw liver into capsules, sourcing organs locally, and nearly everything in between. But realistically, organ meat supplements are simply the most sustainable option for many people who want the health benefits of organs without having to prepare them regularly.

What the science says:

In social-media culture and the online marketing world, it is so hard to know the difference between true health benefits vs marketing jargon vs influencer culture. When someone says something is "good for you", that doesn't always mean that there is true evidence supporting the claim.

That is why I always try to be very intentional about sharing not just anecdotal experience, but the scientific claims and research that support (and/ or disprove) a current trending fad. You can find them linked throughout this post, or if you are curious about a specific claim, you can always email me at hello@wellnesswithkaelyn.com ☺️

Are Supplements a Quick Fix?

If you’ve read this blog before, you might already know that this is a trick question 😉 I see a lot of people recommending or buying supplements as a “cure-all”, with promises of everything under the sun. And while there are some really great supplements out there, I am a really big advocate for making sure your foundational health habits are in place before you ever supplement.

This looks like getting consistent sleep, eating a nutrient-dense, whole food-based diet, managing stress, drinking water.. You know the basics. Then supplements can fill in the gaps!

If you feel like you are nailing all the foundations and want to optimize your nutrient intake, then by all means, continue! These are all the priorities I have when researching supplement brands and looking for a reputable option.

What to look for in a beef organ supplement?

After trying quite a few beef organ supplements over the years, I’ve realized there are major differences in sourcing, product quality, and transparency within the supplement industry. Honestly, there’s also a lot of great marketing…

But not all beef organ capsules are created equally. Here are a few things I personally look for when evaluating the best organ supplements:

1. Grass-Fed and Pasture-Raised Sourcing

This is probably the most important factor to me.

I always prioritize grass-fed beef organ supplements sourced from pasture-raised cattle and pasture-raised animals raised with proper management of pastures and access to native grasses whenever possible. Not only does this support sustainability and animal-welfare, but the actual nutrient profile of the end product.

Heart & Soil sources its grass-fed beef organs from pasture-raised cattle in New Zealand, which is widely recognized for high agricultural standards and regenerative farming practices.

2. Freeze-Dried Processing

The processing method matters more than many people realize.

High heat can potentially damage sensitive nutrients, which is why I personally prefer non-defatted beef organ supplements that use freeze-dried beef liver and gentle processing methods.

Heart & Soil uses freeze-dried organs along with cryogenic milling to preserve nutrient integrity as much as possible while creating beef organ complex supplements that are easy to take daily.

3. Third-Party Testing and Heavy Metals Screening

This is another huge factor for me when choosing the right supplements. Unfortunately, supplements have zero regulatory standards. This means that just because you purchase something plastered with health claims, it doesn’t mean they are anything more than empty promises. That is why third-party testing is crucial when purchasing supplements.

I always want to know:

  • Is the product third-party tested?

  • Are they screening for heavy metals?

  • Are their manufacturing processes transparent?

Heart & Soil emphasizes third-party testing and quality standards, which gave me additional confidence in the brand.

4. Ingredient Transparency

I personally avoid supplements with long ingredient lists full of fillers, gums, anti-caking agents, and unnecessary additives.

The simpler, the better.

Most of Heart & Soil’s beef organ complex formulas contain exactly what you’d expect: freeze-dried grass-fed beef organs in capsules. 👏

5. Packaging

If you’ve been around my blog for a while, you already know how much I prioritize minimizing plastic where possible.

So when my Heart & Soil order arrived and I realized the supplement bottles were nearly 100% plastic-free, I was honestly impressed. That level of intentionality is surprisingly rare.

The bottles are glass, the lids are metal, and the only plastic I found in any of the packaging was a small seal around the lid. Even their colostrum powder has a paper-based scoop instead of the standard plastic one used in most other brands.

My experience with Heart and Soil Beef Organ Supplements

For over a year, my husband and I have been taking Heart and Soil Supplements. We originally started with their beef liver (you can read all about it here), and when Heart and Soil reached out about a partnership, we were excited about it being a good fit!

First impressions? The packaging immediately stood out to me. Everything felt thoughtful, minimal, and high-end without feeling wasteful. Even compared to similar labels and other popular organ meat supplements I’ve tried over the years, the overall product quality felt elevated.

I also appreciate that the capsules themselves are easy to take and don’t have the overwhelming smell or aftertaste that some beef liver supplements can have.

Again, I don’t think supplements are the answer to everything.

But I do think there’s value in incorporating some of the most nutrient-dense foods into our lives in sustainable ways — especially in modern society where many people are depleted, stressed, and relying heavily on ultra-processed foods.

Heart & Soil Her Package Review

One of the formulas I was most curious about trying was the Her Package supplement. With a history of irregular cycles, I'm always looking to support my hormone regulation. This beef organ complex is formulated specifically with women’s wellness in mind and includes organs like liver, spleen, ovaries, uterus, and other reproductive organs.

At first glance, that may sound unusual. But within ancestral nutrition, the philosophy is that organs provide unique nutrient compounds and peptides that may nutritionally support corresponding systems within the body.

As someone who has spent years focusing on hormone health, energy levels, and whole-food nutrition, I’m always more interested in food-based approaches whenever possible.

I also found the daily serving realistic and easy to consistently incorporate into my routine — which honestly matters more than people realize.

That said... I have never before had such a strong response to a single supplement... EVER.

On the back of the bottle, I saw that the recommended serving size is 6 capsules, but to start with fewer if you are new to beef organs. Having taken beef organs for a long time, I still thought it'd be wise to split the difference and take 3 capsules. At the time I started the supplement, I was just wrapping up my period-- this is pertinent to know because the following menstrual cycle was one of the most symptomatic ones I've had in years. All the stereotypical symptoms of each phase? That was me on hyperdrive. I've never seen such obvious ovulation signs (IYKYK), or been that emotional during a cycle in a minute 😅 My cycle was also several days longer than it normally is.

That said, I have always been rather sensitive to supplements and should have been a little more conservative when starting a new product.

Now, I have reduced my intake to just one capsule per day. I'm planning on doing a recap here in a couple of months because of how powerful this was in affecting my hormones. While my hormones have been much more stable the last few years, I'm hoping that this can offer me a touch more balance once I find the sweet spot in dosing!

The trio 👏 My husband has been taking the Beef Organ blend, I’ve been taking the Her Package, and we both have been taking the grass-fed colostrum daily (either in capsule form or their colostrum powder blended into drinks)

Heart & Soil Organ Blend Supplement Review

My husband has been taking the Heart and Soil liver supplement for a little over a year now (if you're curious about reading my comparison with another popular beef liver brand, you can check it out here). So taking the beef organ blend was the natural next step. While this one contains liver, it also has heart, pancreas, spleen, and kidney for a broader nutrient profile.

If you are new to supplementing organs, this is a great place to start (again-- follow the intake recommendations and start slow!) While Shayne didn't notice a huge difference in going from the pure liver supplement to the organ blend, he liked knowing he was getting more varied micronutrients.

Heart and Soil Organ Supplement Pros and Cons

Like any brand in the supplement industry, I don’t think Heart & Soil is perfect — but there are several things I genuinely appreciate about the company after trying their products consistently over the last few months.

Pros

  • High-quality sourcing from grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle in New Zealand

  • Freeze-dried beef organ supplements designed to preserve nutrient integrity

  • Minimal ingredients without unnecessary fillers or additives

  • Nearly plastic-free glass supplement bottles (which I personally love)

  • Wide variety of beef organ complex supplements for different wellness goals

  • Testing for heavy metals, microbes, and contaminants is available through their certificates of analysis

Cons

  • The products are definitely more expensive than purchasing fresh organs or fresh liver directly from local farms, but with most things, the cost is for convenience and quality which is definitely obvious in every part of my experience with the brand and product.

  • Organ supplements may not work well for everyone, especially people sensitive to high amounts of vitamin A or iron-- as always, wellness is highly bio-individualized and you should speak with your health care professional to see if they are right for you and your personal health goals

  • Some users report digestive discomfort or needing to slowly work up to the full daily serving (can confirm!)

Overall, I think Heart & Soil stands out most for its sourcing transparency, thoughtful packaging, and focus on high-quality grass-fed beef organ supplements. While I don’t think any supplement company should be viewed as a cure-all wellness solution (remember, they are supplements, not foundational health habits), I do think they’ve created a genuinely high-quality product for people interested in incorporating organ meat supplements into their diet.

Would I Recommend Heart & Soil Supplements?

After trying many different organ meat supplements over the years — from small brands to more mainstream options— Heart & Soil has honestly become one of my personal favorites.

For me, the biggest things that stood out were:

  • High-quality grass-fed beef organ supplements and minimal ingredients

  • Transparent sourcing and thoughtful manufacturing processes

  • Third-party testing

  • Nearly plastic-free supplement bottles

As always, nothing on this blog is medical advice. Every person’s health status and nutritional needs are different, and no supplement is right for everyone. If you have concerns about a medical condition, prescription medications, or whether organ supplements are appropriate for you, it’s always best to consult your healthcare provider or healthcare professional.
