Huha Underwear Review: What’s Up With Zinc Undies?!
1 year ago, I tried an underwear brand that is infused with zinc….and I’m reviewing it all for you.
Here are the pros and cons of one of the most unique underwear brands on the market today!
Over the past couple of years, I have intentionally been trying to choose more natural fiber clothing. Undies included.
After lots and lots (and lots) of research, I chose to invest in some Huha underwear. Now, over a year after purchasing them, I’m sharing all about the pros, cons, and my honest opinion on the brand.
And just for transparency’s sake, I purchased these with my own money and am just sharing an honest review of the product! No sponsorship or partnership involved.
What Is Unique About Huha?
Honestly, when you are searching for new underwear, I feel like they all kind of start blending together… but Huha stood out as unique for several reasons.
It all started when the founder struggled with recurrent UTIs and discovered that underwear needed to be more breathable. She learned that synthetics like polyester and acrylic (a common fabric for conventional undies) can trap moisture and cause irritation, odor, and bacterial growth. So she went on to design a healthier underwear option that was supportive and breathable.
Here are a few features that really set Huha apart from other brands on the market:
Pharmaceutically-graded zinc oxide liners: Why would you want zinc oxide in your underwear? Zinc is naturally antimicrobial and helps to prevent odors, irritation, and bacterial growth (this is a huge plus if you struggle with UTIs, yeast infections, or any other vulva irritation)
Green gusset: This is probably the most notable feature that sets Huha apart, and it is not just for aesthetics. The green gusset (or the part of the garment that covers your vulva), is intentionally there to help disguise and minimize period stains since green neutralizes red tones.
It’s also thoughtfully designed to prevent any riding, or sliding, or slipping, if ya know what I’m sayin’?! I have worn these underwear biking, hiking, and through hundreds of HIIT workout classes, and they have actually become my preferred underwear for working out. They don’t budge, but also don’t dig in anywhere.
OEKO-TEX certified - which means the underwear is tested and free from 100 harmful substances. 👏
The more I researched, the more I felt like Huha really was a unique and high-quality option on the market. So, I ordered a set to try out. Here are the pros and cons about what I ordered, and whether I would recommend Huha underwear….
Huha Pros
My biggest fave for Huha (other than the comfort) is the natural fibers 👏 And I also prefer that they are not 100% Tencel, and instead have elastic in the bands. While researching and testing different underwear brands that were “100% cotton” or another natural fiber, I found that the ones without elastic often slip around, don’t keep their shape, or bunch up.
Personally, I would rather have underwear that is made of natural fibers where it counts, while also staying put!
These do not budge. I wear them to HIIT classes, to sleep, and as everyday underwear… whether I am lounging, or exercising, they are so comfortable. I love that they don’t ride up or need to be adjusted (IYKYK 😅)
I also love all the different cuts and styles available— cheeky, boxer, bikini, thongs, hipsters, low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise. They literally have whatever underwear cut and style you’re most comfortable in!
Huha Cons
Straight up, I don’t love the price. If you buy only one pair, the price is $25.. If you purchase 7 pairs, you get a 15% discount, which brings the cost to $20.40 a pair. Compared to other underwear, there is no denying that they are pricey.
That said, I do feel like they have held up really well. (Even when I do not always follow the care instructions and throw them in the dryer instead of hanging to dry… woops 🤷🏻♀️😅)
What I purchased
I bought both the low-profile thongs and the low-profile cheeky cut. When you purchase through their site, you get more of a discount when you purchase more pairs. So I bought 3 cheeky in black, 2 beige thongs, and 2 black thongs.
I normally wear a size 8, give or take, depending on the brand and fit. So, according to their size chart, I would best fit a size medium. I do not like underwear that fits tight or digs in at all, and I found that they fit great and were really true to size.
I normally prefer a mid-rise fit (and am not sure why I didn’t order that option), but have never been uncomfortable in this fit, and there is no riding up, twisting or bunching. Technically, on the site it says “low mid-rise”.. so pick your preference haha!
While these do technically have a thicker seam on the edges ( they also have a seamless version that I have not personally tried yet, but plan to order in the future), they are still the underwear I reach for underneath leggings to work out in. With their moisture-wicking zinc liner, I always feel dry, even when I do a high-intensity super sweaty workout 😅
Would I Recommend Huha Underwear?
Yes. They are officially the underwear I always reach for first, and I am planning on purchasing another set soon. If you are looking for an underwear brand with natural fibers, that is OEKO-TEX certified, and is actually comfy and cute— i’ve really loved them personally!
Next time, I might pick out some of their jewel tone undies and bralettes to try out too. If you’ve tried any of their bras or tank tops, I’d love to hear what you thought of them!
