Thrive Market Review and Shopping List 2024
If you have been on my blog before, you have probably seen me referencing Thrive Market. It is one of my favorite ways to save money and prioritize convenience, while still prioritizing high-quality, nutritious foods. I figured it was about time I made a blog post specifically for my honest Thrive Market review. This post will dive into the pros, cons, perks, and some of our family’s staple items to order from Thrive Market.. plus how you can get 40% off your first order!
What Is Thrive Market?
Thrive Market is an online grocery store that delivers to your doorstep! You place your order online and a few days later, you get an email that your delivery has arrived- it really could not be any simpler. The best part is that Thrive Market is curated to intentionally provide access to organic and sustainable products at a cheaper price than your local grocery store.
While I love grocery shopping- seriously, it is one of my favorite places- I found it a lot harder after having kids. I also found it even more difficult when I tried to be more intentional with sourcing high quality food for my family, without blowing our budget every month. I found myself going to 3 or 4 different grocery stores frequently because certain places only carried one item, while others carried different things for a better price.
Another cool thing about Thrive Market is they prioritize giving back to the community by providing a free membership to a low-income family with each membership purchased, as well as donating food during natural disasters.
How much does it cost?
Thrive Market is membership-based and costs $5 per month when a full year is paid in advance, otherwise it costs $12 per month. That adds up to $60 a year if paid in full, or $144 if paid month to month for your annual membership fee.
The cool thing is that there is a savings guarantee that Thrive Market honors- this means that if you do not save as much as your membership costs, they will give you the remaining amount in Thrive Cash to use towards your next order.
For example, you paid $60 for a year-long membership and only saved $45. Your account would be credited the $15 difference to use towards your next order.
They also have a price match guarantee if you find the same product for a lower price elsewhere.
The other thing to mention is you get free shipping over all orders over $49. I find this easy to match since we only do a membership every other month, or every third month to stock up our pantry and cleaning products!
Some features I love…
You can search by different dietary needs. For example, my husband and daughter both primarily eat gluten free (which means I do too) and I can quickly filter out all products that contain gluten. They also have this option if you eat keto, whole30, AIP, etc. It makes accommodating food allergies and preferences so much easier!
Anyone else looove a free gift?! Each month you place an order you get to choose a free gift to be shipped in your order. It has been a fun way to try new products that I have been curious about!
Convenience! I have the app downloaded to my phone and can easily add items to my cart throughout the month. Then when I am ready to place my order, I know I will receive those products to my doorstep in just a couple of days.
You can set up autoship for items that you know you will regularly want to reorder! We use their collagen powder religiously in our morning coffees so this is one example of an item that we get on repeat!
Wonderful customer service! A few months bag I received a damaged item in my box and I reached out to customer service and had a replacement shipped out that very same day!
Thrive Market dupes- seriously every single thing that I have tried that would be considered a "dupe" of another products (like chomps beef sticks, or the ginger turmeric tea I love, they are all equal in flavor and quality IF NOT BETTER than the original)
Some features I don’t love…
When you order frozen items, they do not count towards your $49 shipping limit. That means that you have a different limit to reach for your freezer box since they ship separately from your non-refrigerated items.
While I do feel like I save money using Thrive Market, I have noticed that not all items are cheaper than I can find at my local costco. But to be honest, the convenience is still worth it for me to avoid driving all around town for different groceries.
They currently do not provide options for fridge items and fresh fruits. An alternative for this is another online marketplace geared towards lower prices and sustainable food practices- Misfits Market!
My Thrive Market Grocery List
Pantry Staples
Snacks- they always have a great selection of chips and popcorn that are cooked in coconut oil or avocado oil. These are two oils I prefer over polyunsaturate fatty acids because they are more stable with heat. This means less oxidation.. which means less inflammation in the body! I’m all about smarter snacking👏
Primal Kitchen Sauces, Dressings, and Marinades- I got hooked on primal kitchen back when I did Whole30. I love that they provide a healthier alternative to many of our favorite sauces- ketchup, barbecue, buffalo. Most of them we have loooved (the only one I haven't been a huge fan of was their cilantro ranch)
Organic Cold-pressed Olive Oil- sooo much more affordable than I have been able to find anywhere else!
Sea Salt- High quality sea salt is so beneficial for your mineral intake, adrenal glands, fluid regulation, and so much more! Redmonds is one of my favorite brands to purchase. Currently it is being sold on Thrive Market for 8.99 for 26oz pack, and the exact same one is being sold on amazon prime for 14.99.
Simple Mills Crackers - we love these with cheese or sardines as quick and healthy snacks
Oat Haus Granola butter- have you ever had the cookie butter from trader joe's? Now think of a healthier version made with real food ingredients! This is a great occasional sweet treat made without any artificial ingredients, oxidized seed oils, or other gross things.
Lesser Evil Popcorn- We love the coconut oil version and their paleo "no cheese" puffs!
Banza Lentil Pasta- I love having this on hand for a quick and easy meal. Because they are made with lentils they are naturally gluten free and higher in protein!
Beef Sticks- Thrive Market has their own version of chomps beef sticks and they are so much more affordable (and I think they taste better too!) I love having these on hand for a quick and convenient snack that is high in protein while on the go.
Organic Rice- I love cooking my rice in bone broth after it is soaked in water to make it easier to digest as well as increasing the mineral and protein content!
Organic Ginger Turmeric Tea- This is another Trader Joe's dupe that is so good! I have loved this tea from TJ's for years but hardly ever get it since I don't do much of our grocery shopping there. So when I saw that Thrive came out with their own version I was so excited!
Household Items
Molly Suds- one of my favorite products for non-toxic laundry! We have used the unscented powder detergent for over 2 years and love that we finally found a clean detergent that doesn't leave a weird, musty smell and leaves our clothes actually feeling clean!
Rosey Cleaning Products- This brand is a thrive market exclusive available only to thrive members. I have tried quite a few of the cleaning products and have been really impressed! I opt for the unscented versions of everything, but when they do use fragrance it is all naturally sourced from essential oils.

Beauty Products
Allure Shampoo and Conditioner- These are often items that I find my local market carries for better prices, UNLESS Thrive Market is running a sale. Just last month I stocked up on hair products because they were doing 30% off- which that in itself saved me the equivalent of my yearly membership cost.
Makeup- I have always been extremely minimal when it comes to makeup.. it has just never been my "thing" or interest. So I like to keep things simple and have found that I really like the brand w3ll people. It is non-toxic, works well, and is affordable!
Skincare- CocoKind is a brand that I found at target a few years back and randomly tried. I love (might be obsessed) with their bakuchiol resurfacing skin mask. Bakuchiol is a plant-derived alternative to retinol products and this face mask leaves my skin feeling so smooth and I can tell a difference in the texture right away when I take it off in the morning. I think it is one of my favorite things to have in my thrive market order!

The Final Verdict
I love Thrive Market and think it is a great option for convenience. But to be honest- If you pay month to month, don't take advantage of the free shipping, or don't find value in the convenience of items being shipped to your home, I don't think the monthly membership cost is worth it.
I think the things that definitely make it worth the cost are paying for the whole year up front to literally cut the cost more than IN HALF, taking advantage of free shipping by placing larger orders less frequently, and the convenience it contributes to my life while having a small toddler and another one on the way!
The other factor is where you live. They currently ship to all states in the contiguous united states with plans to expand to puerto rico and hawaii in the future. So if you are outside of the US, or island-living, you'll have to stick with your standard shopping options.
