Thrive Market: A Pro Metabolic Shopping List

Thrive Market is my favorite delivery grocery store

I love that I can get a great selection of snacks, supplements, home and body products that are all intentionally sourced and support my health goals— the best part? it all getting delivered to my front door 😎

I truly don’t know how moms grocery shopped before grocery pick-up or delivery was an option. Pulling up to the pick-up spot and having someone else load up my groceries that they walked around the store and gathered for me, all while my daughter is sound asleep in the back, is truly one of my favorite things.

The few times I have actually grocery shopped since having my daughter I am reminded that I never want to do it again.

Or at least go by myself to make the whole process a little more efficient. 😅

But something even easier than having to drive to the grocery store at all? AND focused on quality-sourced items?!

About Thrive Market

I had looked into Thrive Market a few times years ago, but it seemed like an unnecessary luxury and expense at the time. Then, a couple of years ago (after having my first baby😅), I thought I would look into the company a bit more and was honestly really surprised by the values they stand by. For every membership purchased, they provide one to someone in need. They only carry products that meet that high-quality standards and offer a wide variety of organic options. And the best part? They deliver straight to your doorstep!

The site works by paying a membership fee (similar to costco) for access to their site. Currently is costs $5/month or you can pay for a whole year at a discounted cost. The cool thing is, if you don’t save the equivalent of the membership cost in a year, they give you the difference in Thrive Cash to spend on groceries. Another thing to note is shipping is free after $49- this isn’t too tricky especially if you just do one big monthly order to stock up.

Another thing I love about Thrive is the free monthly product. Sometimes they are things we already are familiar with and if not, it is fun getting to try something new!

I have price compared to other health foods stores and honestly for a lot of the items we get, the prices are more affordable probably 50% of the time and the other half the price is just about the same. Rarely I find that the price on thrive is higher. That said, I feel like Thrive is always having deals and sales that does add up making it the more affordable option. Just last week they did 20% off your entire purchase.

And if you use THIS LINK to sign up, you’ll get an additional 40% off your entire first purchase. (not sponsored, just a refer a friend link to save extra money ☺️)

They have options to shop by your preferred diet: gluten-free, paleo, raw, vegan, keto, low FODMAP, and Whole 30 compliant. But with more and more people adopting a “pro metabolic” lifestyle, focusing on nourishment from high-quality, bioavailable resources, I was interested to see what Thrive Market carried.

What is pro metabolic eating?

“Pro-metabolic” has honestly become kind of a buzz word over the last couple of years as more and more people realize that modern diet culture doesn't work. And not only that, but it doesn’t promote true health and wellness.

Pro metabolic is a fancy term for eating foods that nourish and support your metabolism. This is often high-quality whole, natural foods with bioavailable nutrients and without additives, artificial sweeteners, and preservatives. There is also a focus on eating enough to support your body nutritionally.

For most people, this means consuming nutrient-dense foods like grass-fed meats and organs, high-quality dairy, fruits, vegetables, bone broth, and collagen to name a few.

I think the arising problem with the “pro-metabolic” space is people are looking for restrictions and things they “can’t” eat. This gets people right back into the mentality of toxic diet culture- always restricting and limiting, and then inevitably binge eating.

I will always advocate for focusing on all the incredibly, nutrient-rich foods that support your body instead of the foods you “shouldn’t eat”. When I was in my course to become a health coach, this was referred to as the “crowding out” method.

By intentionally prioritizing foods that nourish your body and support your health you will automatically eat less of the ones that don’t. This allows you to change your mindset from categorizing foods as “good” or “bad”.

Now that we have that squared away…

Here are some of my favorite staples from Thrive Market that support pro metabolic eating (and a few on my next shopping list to try out!)

Pro-Metabolic Shopping List

  1. Thrive Market Grass-fed Collagen Peptides

I primarily use Perfect Supplements Grass-fed Collagen, but this is a great alternative! There have been several times where Perfect Supp is out of their single serving packets of collagen so I will purchase it from Thrive and have found it is a good alternative.

  2. Fourth & Heart Grass-fed Himalayan Ghee

We love this brand of ghee and have been buying it for a long time from our local co-op, but was so excited to see Thrive carry it for a few dollars cheaper! Thrive also caries their own brand of ghee but we haven’t tried that one yet.

  3. CHOMPS Grass-fed Beef Sticks

We don’t eat these very often, but love to have a cleaner, quick protein option when on a road trip or traveling.

  4. Love Beets- Organic Cooked Beets

My go to lunch is random bowls of nutrient-dense foods for lunch, and beets are one of my favorite things to add in. They are a great source of folate, manganese, and copper!

  5. Bonafide Provision Bone Broth

I drink bone broth nearly every day. And while I wish was better about cooking up my own more often, the truth of the matter is I really appreciate the convenience of having a few bags in the freezer for backup. This is the brand I normally purchase from Thrive, But they carry a handful of other brands as well!

  6. Serenity Kids puffs + pouches

The only baby food company we will purchase from. 99% of the time, my daughter just eats what my husband and I eat and we just make sure to prepare hers in a way that is developmentally appropriate. But I do love having the Serenity Kid pouches and puffs handy for traveling or road trips, or as a healthy snack option when we are eating away from home. All their products are made from grass fed meats, vegetables, and high quality fats as opposed to the grains and fruits of most baby foods. Seriously have been so impressed with this company.

  7. Thrive Market Raw Unfiltered Honey

For honey, its recommended to buy locally so that you can get the added benefit of being exposed to your local allergens, but I realize that’s not an option for everybody. This is a high-quality, affordable option for honey if you aren’t able to find any from a local source.

  8. Thrive Market Cassava Flour

Since I have a bad track record with sourdough starters… this is primarily the type of flour we use when we bake something since it is both grain and gluten free and a lot easier for my family to digest.

  9. Thrive Market Organic Coconut Water

Coconut water is truly hit or miss for me-some brands I really like and others I can’t stand. This is one that I actually enjoy and there are no other ingredients, preservatives, or stabilizers!

  10. ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Drops

We have a reverse osmosis water filter installed in our house, but use these to add minerals to our water!

  11. Meat + Seafood

I have never purchased any meat or seafood from thrive market because per pound it always ends up being quite a bit more expensive than what I can get locally. But they do seem to have well-sourced options- I would just keep an eye out for if they go on sale, or if you don’t have any more affordable options locally.

  12. Primal Kitchen Sauces

The No Soy Teriyaki, Buffalo Sauce, and mustard are some of our favorites.

  13. Navitas Organic Cacao Powder

Fallon Danae’s bone broth hot chocolate is one of my favorite drinks before bed (the OG recipe can be found on her instagram) so I like keeping this cacao powder stocked up.

  14. Great Lakes Beef Gelatin

I use this for homemade gummies and marshmallows and will add this to hot liquids for a little added protein! The gelatin from the thrive brand is also a great option and I think a little bit more affordable per ounce, but I find it has a bit more flavor.

  15. Crown Prince Smoked Oysters

Love these on top of crackers for a quick snack!

If you are interested in signing up for a membership yourself (and having groceries deliver to your DOOR🙌) this link will save you 40% off of your first order!

There you have it! Just a few of the things we love getting from Thrive Market that are nourishing and metabolically supportive. They also have a great assortment of clean hair, beauty, and home cleaning products.

What are you favorite things to stock up on from Thrive?
