MomPush Travel Stroller Review: Is It Good for On-The-Go Parents?
I think I finally did it. After nearly 5 years of parenting, I found that lightweight travel stroller that has all the versatility and longevity my family needs.
This is a full review of the MomPush Velo stroller— plus my favorite way to find it at a discounted price 👏
While writing this, I am officially 8 days out from flying to Japan with my 2 young children. For the past 6 months, I had one serious goal: to find the best lightweight travel stroller that fits in the overhead bin, without costing an arm and a leg. So when I had the opportunity to try out the MomPush Velo stroller a few months before my trip, I knew it was the perfect time to test it out before a big trip overseas.
This post will share why MomPush was the stroller we chose to go with, what features set it apart from other travel strollers on the market, my honest review with lots of pictures, and how to find one significantly more affordable (because this mama looooves a good deal 👏).
Our Travel Stroller Criteria
My husband and I have traveled quite a bit in the last 5 years since becoming parents— trips to Hawaii, California, roadtrips, and longer trips to Spain and Italy. Traveling is one of our favorite things to do and something we knew we wanted to stay committed to after becoming parents. But I’ll be honest… some of our first few trips were not quite as smooth as we would have hoped. We overpacked, had a clunky stroller, and just had way too many things to juggle while navigating through security and airports and TSA, with a wiggle little one in tow 🙃
But also, those experiences have given us really good insight into how our family travels best, and what products actually make it easier. So here are some of our travel stroller wish list items that we were looking for:
lightweight
shoulder strap for carrying
one-handed pushing
child weight range that includes both my children
can fit into an overhead bin on a plane
can lie pretty flat for nap time
full sun shade
I told you…. we knew what we wanted 😜 And TLDR; we found it! The MomPush Velo meets all our needs plus some. You can find it on REBEL for a discount too, which always makes it even better 👏

Shopping for Strollers and Why We Chose MomPush
A few months ago, REBEL (formally known as Rebel Nest) reached out with an opportunity to work together. I am always really upfront with potential brand partnerships and that I need to be personally familiar with the brand for an absolute minimum of 30 days before agreeing to work together. They agreed to send me some products so that I could see firsthand how their company works, with no obligation to share unless it was a good fit.
What is REBEL?
If you are a parent, then you know how overwhelming picking the right baby product can be. Not to mention how super expensive everything can add up to be. Since having my daughter, we have always had a “less is more” mentality on baby gear; I would rather have a few high-quality items that last and hold up well, rather than a bunch of different things that do the job halfway. But again, these high-quality items can be pricey.
That’s where REBEL stands apart from other baby gear companies. They take open-box items and resell them at a discount. Not only does this help to save you money, but it keeps many of these items from ending up in landfills.
The more I researched this company, the more I was super impressed with their mission and achievements. Here are a few notable ones:
REBEL annually diverts 25 million + pounds of products from landfills by giving them a second life
They bring top-brand products to consumers at up to 75% off the retail price
B Corp Certified
Quality Check and REBEL Certified- When I first heard the term “open-box”, I was worried that these were going to be second-hand items with questionable quality.. NOPE! Every single product is thoroughly inspected to make sure all the parts are accounted for, there are no signs of wear or damage, and that it is in tip-top shape. Literally, every order I received from them has been perfect, and I would not have ever known the box was even opened.
Why I Picked MomPush From REBEL’S Stroller Options
REBEL has a really awesome selection. While they do not have all the top brands and product lines, they have plenty to choose from and several options that fit my wishlist!
Mompush stood apart from some of the others for a few reasons:
Weight / Size: ~16.98 lbs fully assembled; folded size ~17.13” x 8.27” x 20.08”. This means it is IATA compatible and can easily fit into an overhead bin on most aircraft.
Seat & Recline: Extra-large seat, reclines to about 170°, adjustable footrest. This makes it perfect for naptime on the go and being comfy for both my 2-year-old and 4.5-year-old.
Travel-Ready: Not only does it fit conveniently into overhead bins, but it also has an over-should strap that allows for hands-free carrying. (My husband and I have a guideline for any travel that we need to be hands hands-free as possible, so that we have extra hands for the kids. So this was a feature I was really excited about!)
Included Gear: Rain cover, cup holder, bumper bar, under-seat basket (~13.2 lb capacity)
Age/Weight Suitability: From birth up to ~50 lbs (my 4.5 year old is just under 40lbs, so I know I’ll be able to use it for both my kiddos for a little while)
Affordability: MomPush Velo Strollers retail for $299— which it far more affordable than some of the other comparable travel strollers, without skimping on quality or aesthetics (which is always a plus in my eyes 😍). But then, when shopping through REBEL, you can get the Velo model for ~$215-240 (depending on the color you want)
Canopy and Protection: The four-panel UPF 50+ canopy is a standout. It extends fully for total sun coverage, with a peek-a-boo window for ventilation and checking on your little one. It's not the biggest out there, but it does the job, especially with the included rain cover for unexpected showers.
Wrist Strap: At first, this seemed kinda pointless? Like, why would I need a wrist strap?? Turns out, it is a multi-purpose safety feature. If you are using it in a hilly area, you can slip it over your hand for extra protection so it does not get away from you.
We use it more often, though, for my daughter. She knows that when we are crossing a street, she either needs to hold the strap or my hand. I’m extra excited for this feature when we head to Japan here shortly!

Unboxing and First Impressions: Easy Peasy Setup
Opening the MomPush Velo box gave me a great first impression of both MomPush and REBEL. Everything arrives neatly packed – the stroller frame, seat, bumper bar, cup holder, rain cover, storage bag, and that handy shoulder strap. Assembly? Minimal. You snap on the wheels, attach the bumper bar, and you're good to go in under 5 minutes. No tools required, which is a win when you're dealing with a fussy baby or toddlers running around 👀
My first push around the living room? Smooth and lightweight. The whole body feels sturdy without being bulky, and the one-second fold is no exaggeration – pull the handle, give a little foot nudge if needed, and it collapses effortlessly. Unfolding can sometimes snag on the canopy if you're not careful, but after a couple of tries, it becomes second nature.
Not to mention the materials and fabric feel high-quality: breathable mesh for hot days, a removable seasonal liner for cooler weather, and a double-cushioned seat that's plush yet supportive.
Pros and Cons After Our First Trip
Early in October, we took the stroller on its maiden voyage, if you will. Our family drove to the Oregon coast for a week of beachside adventures and family walks. This was the perfect chance to see how the stroller held up beyond our daily walks around the neighborhood.
Pros: My Favorite Features
Ultra-Portable: Fits super compact into our car trunk!
Value for Money: Packed with accessories (cup holder, rain cover, travel bag, etc.) that competitors charge extra for.. I really appreciated that this felt like a more premium product, rather than something cheaply made
Comfortable Ride: We took this on sidewalks, dirt paths, and streets. And overall, it was a super smooth ride!
Easy Fold: One-hand operation makes it parent-friendly, especially when solo or with multiple little ones
Cons
Seat Angle: This seat doesn't go fully upright and is always slightly reclined, which might bug older kids who want to sit straight. FOr my daughter, we just let her sit in the stroller without the harness, and she can sit however she is comfortable.
Smaller Wheels: At 5.1-5.5 inches, it handles bumps okay but isn't ideal for rough paths. We don’t plan on taking this on much rough terrain, so it’s not really an issue for us, but it is something to note!
5-point harness: Figuring out the configuration of this harness took a little bit of messing around. It honestly fits together like a puzzle piece. And while it is not too tricky once you know how it is configured, it is not as intuitive as other stroller harnesses we have used.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons for most families, especially if the goal of this stroller is traveling.
