Pique Review: My Experience Trying Matcha + Nandaka

I have always been a beverage girl.. I love a good coffee drink, regularly crave a matcha latte, and have no issue staying hydrated.

Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite brands for high-quality, nourishing drinks that will help to support your holistic health.

Throughout my time in the "wellness space", i have always found one thing to be consistent-- it can be hard to discern which companies really provide the best of the best in terms of quality and efficacy. So one of my favorite parts of this job is trying them for you!

A couple of months ago, Pique reached out to me, offering to send me some sample products. I was stoked because there were some new things I had not tried before! I spent over a month testing what they sent me before responding that I would love to formally partner with them. They agreed to sponsor a review post! This does not sway my review, and if anything, it makes me even more adamant about sharing my honest experience- including what I don’t love.

This review will cover 3 of their products: Sun Goddess Matcha, Nandaka Adaptogenic Coffee Alternative, and BT Fountain Beauty Electrolytes ✨

Pique’s Black Friday special is HERE. For a limited time, get a Chai tea FREE with your qualifying purchase. This is the only time you can get your hands on their Chai. Act fast; this limited-time offering is sure to sell out! The offer ends November 16th.

What is Pique?

" We’re on a mission to create doctor-approved,
cutting-edge solutions for your head-to-toe health and beauty transformation. "

Pique was founded by Simon Cheng in 2014, with the hope and desire to unlock the best ingredients from around the globe. If you are unfamiliar with the founder's story, I strongly recommend you check it out. Cheng navigated years of health problems and traveled around the world to find healing and nourishing ingredients; and in that journey, Pique was born.

They prioritize only the highest quality ingredients with an emphasis on cutting-edge technology backed by science. Some of these scientific highlights include:

  • Patented cold extraction technology to extract and preserve phytonutrients and compounds from their ingredients

  • Triple toxin-screened means that you have products with only the purest, most high-quality ingredients

  • Maximized phytonutrients-- as a busy mom and business owner, I want to make sure that I am consuming products that support my wellness and are also packed with nutrients. Nutrient-density refers to the nutrients available in each ounce of ingredients

My Favorite Products…

If you are looking at trying Pique products, you may be like me and struggling to even know where to start?! Over the last few months, I was allowed to try several of Pique products. They gifted me several of their best-sellers, and I'm sharing my experience with each of them :)

Nandaka | Adaptogenic Coffee Alternative

I love coffee and always look forward to it as part of my daily routine-- but to be honest, coffee doesn't always love me back, especially in seasons of higher stress. It can exacerbate feelings of anxiety, mess with my sleep, and give me a bit of “squirrel-brain” feelings. Anytime I started noticing these feelings, or not coping well with coffee, I immediately cut it out.

That is when I ventured into the world of coffee alternatives. Nandaka uses ceremonial Peruvian cacao, functional mushrooms, fermented Pu'er black tea and green tea. This combination of adaptogens and herbal teas offers more than just a yummy, cacao drink. Some of the benefits of Nandaka include:

  • Ceremonial Peruvian cacao activates metabolism

  • Functional mushrooms enhance mood and promote cellular renewal

  • Fermented Pu’er Teas provide calm sustained energy

  • Artisanal pour-over craft coffee flavor with dark red fruit notes

  • Formulated with proprietary F-SIS™ and EMA™ Technology

  • Organic. Vegan. Non-GMO. No added sugar, preservatives or artificial ingredients

Anytime I use this, I love the mental clarity and focus I have throughout the day. It gives you a really gentle feeling of energy, without any of those feelings of jitteriness that occasionally come with coffee.

When you look at the instructions on the packet, you will see it is recommended to be mixed with water. But my favorite is mixing the fine powder with warmed and frothed milk. It gives that Nandaka a rich, smooth and creamy flavor that resembles more of a latte consistency, which is my favorite. When you mix it with water, you have more of a traditional tea consistency.

If you are looking to support energy levels, have better focus throughout the day, or just looking to minimize your caffeine intake, this is one of my first recommendations!

B-T Fountain | Beauty Electrolyte

Did you know that in order to be hydrated, you do not need just tons of water? That is why I am a big fan of electrolytes-- they are those special things that help to bring water into your cells. This allows your body to utilize that fluid rather than just eliminate it all through urine.

What makes this electrolyte product different than every other one I have seen on the market is that it is specifically designed to go beyond deep hydration. With ceramides and hyaluronic acid, this drink helps to keep skin healthy, strong, and youthful. That means fewer fine lines and wrinkles and hydration that really makes sure your skin glows!

  • Clinically proven ceramides visibly improve skin elasticity and reduce fine lines

  • Natural ceramides + hyaluronic acid support a youthful, dewy glow

  • Electrolytes and minerals provide deep hydration

  • Ceramides support hair thickening, follicle strength, elasticity, and shine

These packets come in small single-serve packets that make it really convenient for on-the-go. I love filling my water bottle with cold water, adding a packet of BT Fountain and giving it a shake. I have tried dozens of different electrolyte brands in the last 2 years and can easily say this Yuzu flavor is my favorite.

Pique Sun Goddess Matcha

Coffee (or a great coffee alternative like Nandaka) will always be my number one choice when I am looking for a little pick-me-up, but an iced matcha is a very close second. Matcha also comes with amazing health benefits including being a tremendous source of polyphenols and antioxidant support. These can help to neutralize free radicals, support a healthy immune system, and encourage youthful skin.

Health Benefits of Pique Matcha:

  • EGCG firms and brightens skin

  • Catechins help curb sugar and hunger cravings

  • Chlorophyll supports skin clarity

  • Caffeine supports lipid metabolism

  • L-theanine promotes calm and balance

  • 100% organic, ceremonial-grade matcha and quadruple toxin screened (this ensures there are no heavy metals, toxic molds, or any other junk-- just high-quality ceremonial grade matcha)

Similarly to the Nandaka, I love mixing this in warmed milk to make a delicious matcha latte but it also tastes amazing in hot water. This is a pure matcha-- that means it has that rich, earthy taste that is slightly bitter. Personally, I love the taste of matcha. But if you do prefer a touch of sweetness, you can easily add a bit of maple syrup or honey for a naturally sweetened matcha latte.

PRO TIP: If you are interested in both the matcha and the electrolyte mix, you can get both their healthy skin benefits in their Pique's Radiant Skin Duo.

A Few of My Favorite Things About Pique

Whenever a brand reaches out to offer a partnership, I want to make sure I review them thoroughly. That means their products, the brand, how they deliver their products, and the outcome are covered. While using the products, these were some of the things I really loved and appreciated (followed by what I didn’t love)…

  • Individual packages- at first, I really didn't think twice about this being a feature I would appreciate. But having a small package of high-quality tea is so much more convenient than the container of loose leaf tea you would get from other popular tea brands. I could throw the packet in my backpack, diaper bag, in my pocket, in my car... literally anywhere you have the smallest bit of free space and you are ready for a good cup of tea, cacao, or matcha ✨

  • Raising the standard for higher quality- this goes beyond just using organic ingredients but sourcing these products from the very best places in the world. That means cacao from Peru and matcha from Japan! They focus not only on quality, but really getting the best of the best of the best. 👏

  • Science-backed - Did you know that some brands will include beneficial ingredients but not at the intended dosage? That means that you are not getting the benefits of that ingredient if they do not meet that threshold. Pique prioritizes getting the actual outcome by including the appropriate dose. (Keep this in mind as we get into the next section)

  • Great taste- I’ll be honest… taste is not a deal breaker for me. I will eat or drink things that do not taste the best in order to get the health benefits. (I eat liver for goodness sake 😅) Every Pique makes this really easy because every product I have tried tastes so good. My absolute fave is the Yuzu electrolyte mix.

My Not-So-Favorite Things About Pique

I pride myself and this blog on being a space of honesty and transparency. So it's only fair that I share what I don't love about the pique's products... And the reality is these products are expensive.

What justifies them for me is the emphasis on quality-- you know that when you are purchasing a Pique product, it is intentionally sourced, triple-screened for purity, and focused on not just adding arbitrary ingredients but ones in the right dosage for efficacy.

This is also why I recommend being intentional around your supplementation. In today's day and age, with social media and advertisements around every corner, it feels like there are always products that will make you healthier and happier. But not every supplement, health product, food or drink is right for everyone. That is why I always recommend paying attention to your own bio-individuality, prioritizing a solid foundation of health practices and nutrition, and then intentionally filling the gaps with well-sourced supplementation.

When you look at the specific cost breakdown though, it is still more affordable than going out to a local coffee shop. Locally, I can get a matcha latte for about $6. At home, I can make the same drink (with far superior ingredients) using Pique Matcha at less than $2 per serving! It is all about picking your priorities and being intentional about sourcing. For me and my family, we have decided that we would rather prioritize quality over convenience and purchasing products that support that.

Final Thoughts

I have really been so excited about using Pique products these last few months. And I love knowing that I am nourishing my body with high-quality, nutrient-dense ingredients. This provides my body with immune support, healthier skin, and more sustained energy levels. Plus a yummy beverage to get me through the day feelin' my best ☺️
