My Top 5 Favorite Nourishing Beverages

There is something extra cozy about a good book and a hot beverage this time of year.

These are my 5 favorite warm drinks that have nutritional benefits.

I am not a big fan of winter. I don’t like the snow, have never been a big fan of the cold, and hate how short the days get.

But I will say there is just something so cozy about this time of year. I think how much I read goes up ten-fold because one of my favorite things is to get comfy on the couch with a good book and a warm drink.

Over the last couple of years I have intentionally been purchasing fewer meals and drinks out of the house, and instead opting to make them myself at home. Not only have I had healthier options by making this switch, but I have saved so much money. (A couple weeks ago I went to Starbucks and got a latte and it was over $6 🤯 )

After that, I immediately was reminded of why I love making them myself now.

Fitting in Extra Nourishment

Another reason I love making nourishing drinks is because they can be a great way to sneak in extra nutrients that you would otherwise be missing.

Most women especially are severely depleted in their nutrient stores, and they are not eating enough to replenish them. If you have been under-eating for an extended period of time, the thought of eating a nutritious meal or snack every 3-4 hours may seem a little daunting- I know it did for me when I started focusing on my nourishment.

Drinks can be a great way to supplement these nutrients without feeling like you are always eating.

My Favorite Nourishing Drinks

Bone broth is a staple in our home! We use it to cook our rice, as the base for soups and stews, and will sip on it for extra nourishment.

  1. Bone Broth

Every single week I try to make a large batch of bone broth. It’s so easy and I love that it uses animal parts that would often times be discarded.

It’s rich in amino acids, has anti-inflammatory effects, is a great source of protein, and is rich in minerals!

(if you want to make your own this post has all my favorite tips: My Trick for Getting Gelatinous Bone Broth Every Time)

Not only do I use bone broth as a drink to sip on, but I use it to cook soups, rice (i just switch the water out for broth), or to braise meats in.

  2. Coffee

Back when I was in nursing school and working in the emergency department I would drink copious amount of coffee. I was running on quad shot americanos and infrequent meals… it truly was a recipe for disaster.

BUT that is not to bash on coffee in the slightest- I just wasn't doing my body any favors in how I was consuming it and the quantity.

Now, I usually have a single cup in the morning (maybe one more in the afternoon if i’m working) with collagen, frothed cream from a local farm, cinnamon, and a splash of vanilla. I know that all the ingredients are well sourced, I have a little added protein with the collagen, and the cinnamon helps with inflammation and blood sugar regulation. Win, win, win.

  3. MUD WTR

If I don’t have coffee, I make MUD WTR- an organic cacao and chai mix with ayurvedic herbs and adaptogens for focus, energy, and immunity. It’s like the pick me up you want from coffee, but without the crash. Get $5 off your first MUD WTR order (or an additional $20 off when you suscribe) with code KAELYN

  4. Matcha Latte

I looove a good matcha latte. I heat up milk, blend in collagen, powdered organic matcha, a splash of vanilla, and sometimes a little bit of maple syrup if I want it to be a touch sweet. It is one of my favorite drinks.

Plus, matcha has incredible health benefits.

    • antioxidant rich

    • research shows it helps improve attention and focus, enhanced memory, and quicker reaction time

    • a review of 11 studies showed that green tea reduced body weight and helped maintain weight loss

    • contains compounds that have been linked to cancer prevention in test tube and animal studies

One of my favorite places to purchase matcha is Thrive Market (if you have been interested in trying, you can click HERE for 40% off your first order, or you can read more about my favorite products HERE)

  5. LMNT

This was something I found while breastfeeding to help make sure I was staying adequately hydrated and was supporting my minerals. LMNT is an electrolyte drink without any added artificial sweeteners or preservatives. And their flavors are SO GOOD. My favorite is the Orange Salt and my husband loves the Citrus Salt. And we cannot forget the Mango Chili which would make the peerrrrfect mocktail when the weather warms up.

Since most of the other drinks i’m mentioning are hot.. I should mention LMNT just came out with a line of hot chocolate flavors 😍 Chocolate Salt, Mint Salt, and Chocolate Caramel. I just added these to our subscription plan and am so excited to try them.

LMNT is one of my favorite electrolyte drinks

I love that is includes sodium, potassium, and magnesium to help support getting the fluids you drink into your cells to use!

There you have it. Five of my favorite drinks that i’ll be sipping on alllll winter long. And long past that too. What are your favorite drinks that help keep you nourished?
