Wild Alaskan Company: Wild-Caught Seafood Delivered Straight to Your Door 🎣

Over the last few years, my family has tried to prioritize sourcing meat from local farms. This has looked like sharing a cow with our good friends, shopping locally-raised chickens and pigs, and just trying to be more mindful of where our food comes from. But with us living in Idaho, it is not an option for us to use a similar approach when shopping for seafood!

Earlier this year, Wild Alaskan Company reached out to me and generously offered to gift us one of their Wild Combo Boxes. We regularly try to keep healthy fish dishes in our meal rotation, so I knew right away this would be a partnership I was interested in!

Over the last few weeks, we have been digging into the box and trying all the different varieties they sent— and i’m here to tell you all about it!

What is Wild Alaskan Company?

Wild Alaskan Company is just what it sounds like— an Alaskan-based company specializing in bringing Wild Alaskan and Pacific Northwest seafood right to your doorstep.

I love when companies share their origin story. On their “about” page you learn about the company founder growing up on a fishing boat as a third-generation fisherman. He then went on to working in tech before returning to his fishing roots.

“The more I learned about the global food system and technology, the more evident it became that I could use the internet to subvert the status quo and connect consumers directly to sustainably-sourced, wild-caught seafood. “

Today, Wild Alaskan Company is bringing that dream to action through subscription-based seafood boxes. They are also passionate about advocacy and supporting real food 👏👏 Here are some of the causes they stand behind:

  • Protecting nature - Environmental stewardship focuses on minimizing the ecological footprint of sourcing, producing, catching, growing, packaging, and distributing food. Wild Alaskan Company commits to practices that minimize human exploitation/manipulation of Mother Nature, conserve natural resources, and promote biodiversity.

  • Intentionally sourcing, every step of the way- this means that all products, from seafood to spices to produce, are obtained in a manner that respects local communities and environments where these goods are harvested or produced. This means prioritizing partners who can provide transparent supply chains, support local economies, and demonstrate sustainable fishing, growing, and logistics practices.

  • Prioritizing real food- The ingredients and nutritional standards of Wild Alaskan Company's products are of high nutritional value, contributing to a balanced and healthful diet. They prioritize real food, with minimal manipulation and free of unnecessary additives, to ensure purity and optimal essential nutrients.

Benefits of High-Quality Seafood

Wild-caught seafood is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients that support overall health. Compared to farm-raised options, wild-caught fish tend to have higher levels of key nutrients and are less likely to contain harmful additives or antibiotics. Here are some of the top health benefits:

  • Rich in omega-3 fatty acids – Supports heart health, brain function, and reduces inflammation.

  • High-quality protein – Essential for muscle repair, hormone production, and maintaining a healthy metabolism.

  • Lower in contaminants – Wild-caught fish generally have lower levels of toxins like PCBs and antibiotics found in some farmed seafood.

  • Loaded with vitamins and minerals – Including vitamin D, B12, selenium, and iodine, all of which are vital for immune function, energy, and thyroid health.

  • Better fat profile – Wild-caught fish typically have a healthier ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fats.

What I Love About Wild Alaskan

Sometimes it can be really tricky trying new products— especially when you’re not sure about the quality you will receive. That is why i loove reading other people’s experiences with brands and products (and why I have made them a part of my business to hopefully help you research for your family)! These were a few of my favorite things about Wild Alaskan Company:

The bottom left was sockeye salmon and the top two plates were coho salmon— both were so yummy and fresh!

  • Quality + Freshness- Did you know that when it comes to wild-caught salmon, frozen is actually fresher than “fresh”? Huh? 😅 That's because flash-freezing preserves the texture, taste, and freshness of just-caught salmon.

That "fresh" salmon at the store? It's probably previously frozen fish that's been thawed for display.

If you are interested in learning more about why frozen fish is superior in quality, you can read all about it in this post.

  • Perfectly Portioned Packages- For my family of 4 (two adults and two toddlers), these packages are a really convenient way to prep just the right amount of food for us all. Currently, we will thaw out 2 packages in preparation for a meal. With each package being 6-8 ounces, it is plenty for one adult and one toddler. When we first opened the box, we cooked some salmon, bone broth rice, and garden green beans (pictured above) and cooked 3 portions— and had plenty left over that we warmed up for lunch the next day!

  • Convenience- I love the quality, the commitment to sustainability, and the taste it great. But my absolute favorite thing is the convenience. In this season of life— working as a nurse, running a wellness business, raising babes, and just all the other life stuff going on— my husband and I have chosen to prioritize more convenience. This looks like investing in subscriptions that nourish our family well and support companies with our same values— and make it really, really easy.

Final Thoughts

I am all about companies that are bridging the gap between wellness and convenience. While the price point is higher than what I would find in my local grocery store, the convenience and quality isn’t something I could match on my own. If your family is looking for a way to source high-quality seafood that is sustainably supporting the fishing industry, Wild Alaskan Company is one I would recommend.

Do you also love including seafood in your diet? If so, send me all your favorite recipes please— I’m always looking for new tasty recipes to add into our meal rotation.
